About La Alianza Latina Commission
The County Executive established La Alianza Latina Commission as a permanent commission which began as a workgroup during Hispanic Heritage Month in September of 2020. The goals of the commission are to promote diversity and civility and address many of the concerns and struggles that the Latino and immigrant communities experience. The commission is comprised of 17 Howard County residents, representing a variety of backgrounds throughout Central and South America. La Alianza Latina aims to assist constituents and educate them on services and programs that may seem out of reach – such as accessing education, community resources, medical services, starting a business, or purchasing a home.
El Ejecutivo del Condado estableció la Comisión La Alianza Latina como una comisión permanente que comenzó como un grupo de trabajo durante el Mes de la Herencia Hispana en septiembre de 2020. Los objetivos de la comisión son promover la diversidad y la civilidad y abordar muchas de las preocupaciones y dificultades que experimentan las comunidades latinas e inmigrantes. La comisión está compuesta por 17 residentes del condado de Howard, que representan una variedad de orígenes a través de América Central y del Sur. La Alianza Latina tiene como objetivo ayudar a los electores y educarlos sobre los servicios y programas que pueden parecer fuera de su alcance, como el acceso a la educación, los recursos comunitarios, los servicios médicos, la creación de un negocio o la compra de una vivienda.
About the Howard County Office of Human Rights and Equity
The Howard County Office of Human Rights and Equity is an entity of the Howard County Government that seeks to eradicate discrimination, increase equal opportunity, and protect and promote Human Rights in the county. The Office serves as a catalyst in fostering attitudes and beliefs among Howard County residents which confirm that all individuals have an equal opportunity to enjoy a wholesome and productive quality of life and can pursue their lives free of discrimination.
