Ben Folds to Join Howard County Youth Orchestra at Merriweather Post Pavilion

The Merriweather Arts and Culture Center (MACC) is thrilled to announce a special evening of live music on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, featuring internationally acclaimed artist Ben Folds with the Howard County Youth Orchestra (HCYO). This family-friendly performance begins at 7:30 PM (doors open at 6:30 PM) and is aligned with MACC’s mission of presenting accessible and inclusive arts experiences for everyone.

Ben Folds, an Emmy-nominated musician celebrated for his genre-defying artistry and dynamic performances, is a pioneer in blending pop and classical music. Known for his hits with Ben Folds Five, a prolific solo career, and his innovative collaborations with world-class symphonies, Folds will bring his unique energy to the stage with one of the region’s premier youth orchestras.

HCYO has a distinguished history of performances at Merriweather Post Pavilion, including memorable collaborations with Guster (2023) and Tank and the Bangas (2024). Their dedication to musical excellence and providing transformative opportunities for young musicians has made them a cherished part of the local arts community.

“This concert exemplifies what MACC strives to do—bring together talented performers from across our community and country to create moments of musical magic at Merriweather Post Pavilion,” said Ian Kennedy, Executive Director of MACC. “We’re thrilled to welcome Ben Folds to Merriweather and to once again shine a spotlight on the incredible talent of the Howard County Youth Orchestra.”
