LakeFest 2024 Lineup Announced

Columbia, MD – May 2, 2024, The Merriweather Arts and Culture Center (MACC) in collaboration with the Columbia Festival of the Arts (CFA) is thrilled to present the lineup for the 37th annual LakeFest. The highly anticipated free weekend of music and arts will take place at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront June 14th to 16th.

With a fusion of homegrown talent and acclaimed national and international acts, LakeFest 2024 promises three days of exceptional live music, invitational fine arts & crafts, engaging children’s activities, and delectable festival food. The renowned artists taking over LakeStage during the festival include:

  • Telmary Y HabanaSana: Hailing from Havana, Cuba, Telmary is a trailblazing figure in the hip-hop and urban music scene. Her empowering message and distinctive style have captivated audiences worldwide.

  • Bette Smith: With influences ranging from gospel to rock and roll, Bette Smith delivers a soul-stirring performance that transcends musical boundaries.

  • Brass Queens: This dynamic 10-piece brass band, inspired by the music of New Orleans, is on a mission to elevate women in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

  • Oh He Dead: Washington D.C.’s own Oh He Dead brings infectious funk and pop-rock vibes to the stage, led by the powerhouse vocals of CJ Bowlin’ Johnson.

In addition to the stellar musical lineup, LakeFest will feature a juried, invitational fine arts & crafts show displaying the works of over 50 renowned regional artists. Attendees can also enjoy free children’s activities, including arts and crafts presented by KidzArt and the opportunity to color a life-sized monster mural.

The popular golf umbrella art project is back again this year.  Community members and professional artists will create 50 colorful works of art using umbrellas as their canvasses. This year’s theme is Community, Connection, Culture. LakeFest attendees can vote for their favorite umbrella design with winners announced on Sunday, June 16 at 1pm.

“We are thrilled to present the extraordinary lineup for LakeFest 2024,” said Ian Kennedy, Executive Director of MACC. “This year’s festival embodies our commitment to highlighting diverse and talented artists while fostering a vibrant cultural community in Columbia.”

Phil Maher, Chair of the CFA’s Board of Trustees, echoed Kennedy’s sentiments, saying, “As part of our ongoing partnership with MACC, we are proud of our role in LakeFest, and look forward to welcoming thousands of attendees to this iconic event.”
